The physical benefits of Martial Arts will be immediately noticeable for children and adults of all ages. The rudimentary self-defence moves of Taekwondo, such as kicking, punching, striking blocking and evasion teach the student co-ordination and concentration.
As students become more proficient they will learn the more dynamic techniques of Taekwondo like jumping and spinning combinations along with offensive and defensive skills. A strong focus on strengthening suppleness and stamina related exercises is encouraged.
After appearing as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, and the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Taekwondo was accepted as an official Olympic sport in September 1994 and made its debut as an official sport at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia where Australia won one gold and one silver.
